Just my opinion and encouraged suggestion. Based in my own iPod 6th.
iPod was initially invented and offered like a Music Device, iF you notice it, iPod was the MP3 player great innovation and icon by Apple even before iPhone. iPod was one of the most innovative inventions in the history, it is in the Top 10 of gadgets that changed the world in the last 25 years (at least in the video – music device world).
Audio plug for 3.5 mm
So much models of headphones to choose. You can plug the iPod using the 3.5 mm jack to old audio systems without bluetooth, some old car audio sys doesn’t recognose iPod in the system, example the old Ford Focus uses 3.5 mm plug for external devices. And the sound through plugged line doesn’t suffer compression or quality loss as usual via bluetooth. And plugin it via USB Lighting to audio systems, of course so easy and better sound too. That’s users choice . iF Apple will include the adapter – it is so good.
This is (to me) the most important point. iPod Touch 5th Gen and its following 6th were the first to have a thin, small, light, soft, smooth, nice, innovative and pretty design, even before the iPhone redesign as seen since iPhone 6, the iPhone 5c was a first attempt about new design.
Cable Lightning a USB
So easy just plug and play. Mac and PC compatible, fast, organize with iTunes, same time it is charging, it can be plugged to USB port in some audio systems. In iPod with this current USB via, it is not compromised its internal struchture, size and design, I think with a “wireless” charging all this comfortable and easy plug and play will be lost, even I think “wireless? the charging dock is plugged with a cable”.
upGrades in it’s hardware
Yes, as I said before. Better memory, chip, a better camera, and maybe 2 speakers L+R stereo, not only one stereo speaker it would be so nice for sound lovers! This does not demand a change of size or desing (I suppose it).
bout the 3.5 mm audio output
iF you will include the adapter… then it is good.
